Students who have waited until the last minute to turn in their ballots can receive a free ride to Lane County Elections office this afternoon courtesy of the student government.
The ASUO’s “fastest ballot box in the world” shuttle will ferry 11th-hour voters or their sealed ballots from the ASUO office in EMU Suite 4 to the elections office, according to an ASUO press release.
Shuttles will leave between 3 and 7 p.m., ASUO spokesman Slade Leeson said. Ballots must be turned in to the county elections office by 8 p.m.
Students can also deposit their ballots in an official Lane County Elections Office box near the ASUO office in the EMU before 8 p.m.
“At this point, it’s too late for students to mail in their ballots,” said ASUO State Affairs Coordinator Emily McLain in the release. “But our shuttle is going to make it easier for them to vote anyway.”
Students who have not received ballots or who have other voting-related concerns may also ride the shuttle, according to the release.
“The ‘fastest ballot box in the world’ is sort of a joke,” Leeson said. “But I guess you’d have a hard time finding one faster than our shuttle.”
