J.D. Nelson
Position: Free safety
Sport: Football
Year: Senior
Oregon Daily Emerald: What’s the worst hit you’ve ever put on someone during a game?
J.D. Nelson: Last year versus Arizona. The end of it all, the guy (Wide receiver Syndric Steptoe) didn’t really get up.
ODE: Have you ever hit a guy so hard that you’ve seen the snot bubbles come out of his nose?
Nelson: Not really. You don’t make it too much of a point to try to look at the guy after you hit him too hard.
ODE: Are looking forward to Steptoe coming back this Saturday?
Nelson: Definitely, but to tell you the truth, I don’t think he’s going to be coming my way too much. If he does, more power to him.
ODE: Who’s the best receiver you’ve ever covered?
Nelson: That’s a good question. Tight end Alex Smith that used to play for Stanford and then receiver … the USC guys (Dwayne Jarrett and Steve Smith) are really good. Those two guys have really stood out because they’ve been playing together for years.
ODE: Who’s the hottest Oregon female athlete?
Nelson: Ah man, I don’t know. I can’t comment on that one. You guys might get me in trouble.
ODE: Who is or was the worst person to room with on the road?
Nelson: (Former Oregon cornerback) Justin Phinisee. A couple of years ago we roomed together. He snores; he’s always on the phone. It’s terrible when you’re trying to sleep. You’d better go to sleep before he does or you’re not getting any sleep.
