A college-age woman was transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center Monday evening after she was hit by a car on East 15th
Avenue outside the Student Recreation Center.
The woman was struck after she walked into the street, police said.
An ambulance took the victim to the hospital without its lights on because she was not in serious danger, Eugene police spokeswoman Melinda Kletzok said.
“There was no blood,
but she got a bump on the head” and was pretty shaken up, said EPD Officer Ryan Bloodworth, who was on the scene shortly after the woman was hit.
Department of Public Safety officer Scott Cameron said he would not speak about the case because it’s currently
under investigation. He said all parties on campus should pay extra attention when walking and driving while using cell phones.
“Even when you have the right of way, the irrefutable laws of physics are on the car’s side,” he said.
