The University debate team will split up and take opposing stands on the right to speech supporting terrorist violence tonight during an event sponsored by the Honors College’s Forensics Program and the Concerned Faculty for Peace and Justice.
One side of the team will take the part of a government intending to ban all speech supporting terrorist violence and the other will act as a parliamentary system advocating that all speech should be free.
The debating begins at 7 p.m. in 182 Lillis and is free and open to the public.
Shortly following the debate, there will be a chance for the audience to get involved in a question-and-answer period with members of both sides of the team.
For more information, contact Dr. Frank Stahl, from Concerned Faculty for Peace and Justice, at 541-346-5819 or Aaron Donaldson, debate team coach, at 541-510-5819.
