In a seven hour meeting that Senator Kyle McKenzie said could set the record for the longest Student Senate meeting, Senators allocated $835,784 in over-realized funds Wednesday night.
The amount of money in the over-realized fund is constantly changing. At the start of the meeting, acting Senate President Jonathan Rosenberg said the Senate would actually have $935,303 to spend – far more than the $800,000 originally reported.
After hearing proposals from 19 groups and discussing each proposal in depth, Senators allocated money to just 8 groups.
The allocations are as follows:
EMU Multi-Cultural Wing: $300,000
Biodiesel Vans for Campus Recycling: $174,000
Student Rec Center deficit solution: $118,705
Club Sports office expansion: $10,579
Seminar in Latin American philosophy: $20,000
Campus biodiesel initiative: $12,500
University Theater expansion project: $100,000
EMU equipment upgrade: $100,000
Total: $835, 784
