Thrower Britney Henry ended the Pacific-10 Conference season with a flourish, and it resulted in athlete of the week honors for the redshirt senior.
Henry launched her second throw of the Oregon Twilight track meet 221 feet, 7 inches. Her toss tied her Oregon school record and marked a three-foot season best. Henry’s mark leads the Pac-10 and sits third overall among collegians.
She had a consistent afternoon with three other marks of 216-7, 213-5 and 219-4. Henry beat out a tough field including Loree Smith of the New York Athletic Club, who finished second on a season-best of 221-5. Bethany Hart was third at 220-6 and Jen Leatherman followed in fourth place at 218-4. Cari Soong, a former UCLA thrower and Oregon volunteer coach, took sixth at 196-3.
