Former Oregon basketball player Andre Joseph has joined the Eugene Chargers for the rest of the season. Joseph is the third former Duck to join the Chargers, who also have Jay Anderson and Adam Zahn on the roster.
Joseph started two years for Oregon on the Ducks 2003 Pacific-10 Conference Tournament champions and in 2004 when the Ducks made the semifinals of the National Invitation Tournament.
In 2003, Joseph averaged 9.3 points and 3.0 rebounds a game. He followed that up with averages of 12.6 points and 4.5 rebounds a game in 2004.
After he left Oregon, Joseph traveled all over the globe to play professional basketball. He’s played in Austria and Mexico. Joseph has participated in the CBA, USBL and NBDL.
The NBDL’s Los Angeles Defenders drafted him in 2006. Also, Joseph was one of the San Antonio Spurs’ final cuts last season.
“Andre will make the Chargers a quicker and more athletic team. He will help us improve our transition game as well as add more depth to the roster,” Chargers General Manager Carl Berman said in a release. “The Chargers plan is to add more players with local ties in order to create more community awareness of the team. Andre is an exciting player and will help improve both our fan base and the play of the team.”
