The men’s sprint crew and women’s pole vaulters headlined the second and last day of performances by Oregon track athletes at the Devaney Center Saturday on the University of Nebraska campus.
Senior Emily Enders and freshman Eniko Eros both cleared 12-3 1/2 in the pole vault and tied for third and fifth, respectively.
Junior Kasey Harwood ran the 800 meters and placed third in the third heat of the event in a time of 2 minutes, 17.33 seconds. Overall, Harwood ranked 11th.
For the men, junior Phil Alexander and freshman Chad Barlow advanced to the finals of the 200 and 400 meter races, respectively. Alexander finished sixth in 21.78 seconds and Barlow also ran sixth in 48.47 seconds.
Sophomore Jared Huske was 10th in the 60 meter hurdles semifinals with a time of 8.26 seconds.
Oregon’s 4 x 400 meter relay team featured Alexander, Barlow, junior Marcus Dillon and freshman Ashton Eaton as they came in fifth place in 3:14.96 and just .02 seconds off their season best.
Also this weekend, Oregon had track athletes compete in the Millrose Games in New York City.
Oregon’s group of juniors Michael McGrath, A.J. Casteel and freshmen Ryan Waite and Andrew Wheating placed seventh with 7:50.90, despite dropping a baton on the opening leg.
American University earned first place in the event with a time of 7:39.88 – .13 seconds over second place Villanova at 7:40.01. American University is coached by former Duck Olympian Matt Centrowitz.
