Author and cultural development consultant Arlene Goldbard will lead a free community conversation Thursday that will last from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Lord Leebrick Theater, located at 540 Charnelton St. She will also speak about and sign copies of her recent book, “New Creative Community: The Art of Cultural Development.” She will be co-hosted by the University’s Arts and Administration Program, the Cultural Forum and the Lane Arts Council.
Tina Rinaldi, the University Arts and Administration program manager and chair of Eugene’s Cultural Policy Review Committee, said that the city of Eugene is in the process of reviewing its cultural policy for the first time in 20 years.
Rinaldi said the committee is trying to determine what roles the city and the private sector should play in supporting arts and culture.
Rinaldi acknowledged Goldbard as an expert on arts and culture development policy for 30 years.
“Since Eugene is revising its cultural policy, it is appropriate to invite the community to hear Goldbard speak,” Rinaldi said.
