On Monday, Oregon freshman guard Tajuan Porter was named Pacific-10 Conference Player of the Week for his efforts in the Ducks’ games against the Washington schools.
In the two games, Porter scored 40 combined points and had four steals while shooting 10-of-18 from the floor and 7-of-12 from the three-point line.
He scored 21 points, including 11 straight and 19 in the second half, to help the Ducks come from behind against Washington State. He scored 19 total points against the Huskies.
With one more three-pointer, Porter will tie Jason Kapono’s Pac-10 freshman record of threes made in a season at 82.
Porter also regained the conference lead in free-throw percentage, making 13-of-14 free throws. He is 92.3 percent from the line this season.
It was Porter’s second weekly award this season and Oregon’s 27th Player of the Week all-time. He was also named Dick Vitale’s Player of the Week after the first three games of the season.
