TV Tattle
TV Tattle may not be the prettiest blog in the blogosphere, but it makes up for it by packing its main page full of information. The blog crams an immense amount of TV news into one space, which makes it an ideal outlet for every aspect of TV-related information, and simply reading the headlines can make you more informed than you were five minutes ago.
Discobelle.net
Discobelle is one of the premiere online resources for fans of dance music. The Swedish blog, which is written in English, covers everything that thumps, and has the credibility to get some excellent exclusive tracks and mixtapes. Although a lot of the things you’ll find on here are dance tracks with a European feel, these Swedes also have a thing for American rap music, and have sporadic coverage of up-and-comers and game-hardened vets.
PostSecret
Even non-voyeurs can find the mystery, intrigue and innate human-ness in people’s secrets, anonymously sent to PostSecret on postcards. Browsing through each week’s postings drums up feelings of sadness, humor and disgust, and you’re likely to find a secret at some point that you can associate with.
Said the Gramophone
Said the Gramophone is an MP3 blog dealing primarily with indie rock and pop acts, and as an MP3 blog it does fine. The real reason to read, though, is the copy that comes along with each track. The authors of Said the Gramophone are sometimes exceedingly witty, sometimes downright loopy, but this is one blog you don’t want simply to listen to.
Fleshbot
Don’t know where to go to find the Net’s greatest porn? Look no further than Fleshbot, which rounds up all the latest in gay and straight porn for your…um…pleasure. It’s completely free, but the porn Fleshbot covers is often from paysites that require monthly subscriptions. But there are usually plenty of pictures to go along with each blog post. Fleshbot is owned by Gawker Media, which operates a host of blogs covering every topic imaginable.
Mad Decent Blog
Hosted by Mad Decent, Diplo’s record label, the Mad Decent blog posts about loads of music you might find on the label, like Bonde do Role and DJ Blaqstarr, as well as Diplo affiliates like MIA. There’s also plenty non-label related dance tracks that are, in essence, mad decent.
The Hood Internet
The Hood Internet can be depended upon for slappers and sidesplitters alike, all delivered by resident mash-up DJs STV, SLV and ABX. One downside is that they only routinely post their own mash-ups, but the guys have talent, and if nothing else come up with some serious mad scientist type combinations. For a sampling of what’s in store, download one of their mixtapes.
Gizmodo
Gizmodo is the technophile’s dream. Every day, the staff at Gizmodo posts information on the hottest, newest or weirdest gadgets out there, from iPhone rumors to crazy Japanese inventions. Even the casual tech consumer can find something of use at Gizmodo. Gizmodo is owned by Gawker Media, which operates a host of blogs covering every topic imaginable.
Pink is the New Blog
Pop culture blogs are all the rage these days, thanks to the likes of Perez Hilton. Pink is the New Blog sets itself apart, however, by being less cruel than Perez Hilton. Also, Pink tends to cover gay culture, and celebrities popular among the gay community, more than everyday celebrity/pop culture news.
X17 Online
X17 exists for readers who want constant, up-to-date information on their favorite celebrities, especially Britney Spears. The blog is frequently updated with pictures and videos of celebs walking their dogs, driving their children around or buying coffee. But before logging on to X17, one should know that the blog is operated by paparazzi company X17, so supporting the X17 blog means supporting the paparazzi who stalk celebrities.
