The men’s golf team is at Brookside Country Club in Stockton, Calif., for the Stockton Sports Commission Pacific Invitational. The Ducks recorded a 9-under 279, six strokes behind leader Kansas State.
Sean Maekawa and Joey Benedetti led the charge for Oregon, both posting a 3-under 69. Their scores put them in a 14-way tie for ninth place, three strokes off co-leaders Nick Delio of CSU-Northridge and Stefan Wiedergruen of UNC Charlotte.
Derek Sipe is only one stroke back of Maekawa and Benedetti after shooting an opening-round 70. Close behind Sipe are teammates Jack Dukeminier and Isaiah Telles, both of whom shot one-under par.
The Ducks are tied for fifth place with San Jose State and trail Marquette, Charlotte, and UC Davis. Play continues through Wednesday.
