The Oregon Student Association, in order to determine which issues it will focus on during the next state legislative session on behalf of Oregon students in post-secondary education, posted an online survey for students.
The confidential survey allows students to prioritize five issues from a list of 11. The OSA will consider the survey results when forming its agenda for the upcoming session. The OSA’s mission is to make higher education more accessible for Oregon students.
“It’s really important that students give us feedback as to what’s important to them,” said Courtney Sproule, OSA communications director. “Students on the board take those survey results very seriously because it’s a good representation of what students statewide take seriously. Those survey results are a key part of what is prioritized.”
Issues on the survey include need-based financial aid; funding for public universities, community colleges and OHSU; access to health care; state support for LGBTQ programs; student-parent childcare; tax reform; and debt forgiveness.
Additionally, the Oregon Students of Color Coalition is sponsoring a similar survey for students of color. The survey is available from Jennifer Lleras in the ASUO office.
