Senior Matthew Harper’s interceptions Saturday not only won the game for Oregon, but won him the Pacific-10 Conference defensive Player of the Week award.
The senior picked off USC quarterback Mark Sanchez twice, including the game-clincher with 11 seconds to go, and had five tackles and a pass breakup. He returned the two interceptions a total of 61 yards.
Harper is the second Duck this season to earn the award, joining Nick Reed, who was named Player of the Week after his 11-tackle, 3.5-sack performance against Washington State.
Two Ducks have also won offensive Player of the Week awards. Quarterback Dennis Dixon has earned it twice, for his performances against Michigan and Stanford, and running back Jonathan Stewart earned it after his 251-yard game against Washington.
