After reading the opinion piece by Jacob May about skipping class to wait in line for tickets, I had to add my two cents on this issue.
It is stupid to hand the tickets out on a Monday. People do have morning classes, and they do want to go to the game. Why not hand the tickets out on Sunday instead? That way students can attend the game AND make it to class.
As far as what May said about it being impossible to hand out all the tickets before 2 p.m., so go to class and wait ’til later, when the line dwindles down; I don’t know where May was at 2 p.m. on Monday, but the line did NOT dwindle down. The line remained neverending until the tickets sold out.
A news station made it a point to come over and interview students, who complained about the amount of time it took to get a ticket, and how they were missing the first day of class. There is no reason to make students choose between class or the game when distributing tickets on a weekend would solve everything.
