Finding and reflecting on “peace within” will be the theme of this month’s Interfaith Prayer and Reflection Service, held at the First Christian Church in Eugene on Thursday.
The service will focus on expressing “peace within,” incorporating ten different faiths, including: Baha’i, Buddhism, Hinduism, Native American, Judaism, Islam, Sikhism, Taoism, Self-Realization and Christianity.
The event is intended to bring different faiths together in the hope of creating peace and building appreciation toward each other.
Prelude music begins at 6:45 p.m., during which ancient Indian ragas will be chanted, followed by the service at 7 p.m., which will include chanting, singing and reading from sacred texts.
An hour of tea and fellowship will follow the service at 9 p.m.
This is the 64th Interfaith Prayer and Reflection Service in the monthly series. The first was held in Oct. 2001, following the attacks of Sept. 11.
The First Christian Church is located at 1166 Oak St. Free childcare is available.
