Flight data recorders from the crashed jetliner that carried University students and sisters Stephanie and Lindsey Jackson were found off the coast of Sulawesi in Indonesia on Thursday, according to an Associate Press report.
The United States Navy received signals from the black boxes, which authorities said would be vital in determining the cause of the crash that happened more than three weeks ago.
Adam Air Flight KI-574 went missing on New Year’s Day after reporting high winds on a scheduled two-hour flight within the island nation. Since then, nearly 200 small pieces of the plane have been recovered in the Makassar Strait near Sulawesi, the report said.
No bodies have yet been recovered.
The ill-fated Boeing 737 carried a total of 102 people, including Scott Jackson, the father of the two women.
