This year’s Oscar-watching party raised approximately $1,200 and benefitted Food For Lane County, the local division of Red Cross and the Red Cross’s Mozambique flood relief fund.
“It was like a big party at your friend’s house,” said Josie Basford, the Bijou’s day manager.
The Bijou, which hosts this event annually, donates proceeds to charity. Besides ticket sales, the event also raised money by auctioning posters, banners, coffee, flowers and movie passes.
“To see how willing people were to donate to these benefits — that was very nice,” Basford said.
