With the Oregon women pulling away from No. 7 UCLA in the final minutes of a 27-point win, the sixth person (the Oregon crowd) was so raucous that the upper levels of Mac Court were shaking. For the men’s and women’s games, Mac Court provided the typical atmosphere this year that helped it earn Sports Illustrated’s attention in 1995 as one of the 12 toughest places to play in college basketball. Fans turned out in record numbers for women’s games. Oregon led the conference with an average of 5,042 fans a game, with a high of 8,290 for the Civil War. The men sold out five games and averaged 8,158 fans a game.
