Briefly explain your platform.
I am hoping to get as many voters turning out from my departments and I’d also like to work on getting funding for student groups such as student affilaltes of American Chemical Society and Asklepiads and other groups involved in the sciences.
What qualities and experience qualify you to be an ASUO senator?
Don’t have a whole lot of leadership experience. That’s a good question. I guess the fact that I’d like to give back to the community and hopefully the University of Oregon has been good to me and I’d like to give back to it.
What are your thoughts on the size and purpose of the student incidental fee?
Should be used for going back into the campus community. Not for saving the world.
How will you ensure that you are representing your constituents’ interests?
Consistently interacting with students while I am in office. I think things that aren’t as possible on a larger scale are possible on a campus scale, like setting up a Facebook group to get a yes or no.
What are some major issues facing science majors and how would you address them?
In order to get into a graduate school you have to put a fairly large amount of money up front and if you don’t get in to graduate school that’s a rather large investment that’s basically gone nowhere. So maybe helping to get funding for supporting science students and getting some kind of financial aid or something.
