The Eugene Marathon takes place Sunday, starting at 7 a.m., and will wind through parts of campus and the East and West University Neighborhoods.
The 26.2-mile race kicks off at East 15th Avenue and Agate Street. After running through parts of Eugene and Springfield, it will finish at Hayward Field.
The Eugene Police Department states that area-residents should expect delays, detours and road closures in the city between 6:30 a.m. and about 2 p.m., and in Springfield between 7:45 a.m. and 11 a.m.
Franklin Boulevard will be closed to vehicle traffic between Villard and Alder Streets for the duration of the event.
Marathon organizers expect more than 7,000 people from 48 states and five countries to participate in the event.
Lane Transit District buses will run on detoured routes in the morning, and most will resume their regular routes by 11 a.m. For more information on affected routes, go to the Emerald news blog at blogs.dailyemerald.com/news.
