Shake that booty …
The fourth annual “Down 4 It” event will bring together nine dance crews and more than 100 dancers Saturday to Lane Community College. Mixing up local and regional hip-hop jazz groups, the evening will feature “a hip, energetic, congregation of Northwest talent from Eugene to Seattle, with styles ranging from street to lyrical,” according to a press release
The event will include University students and alumni, such as graduate teaching fellow Chris Gorney, who directs Eugene’s own old-school break crew, the Rhythm Army. Other performances include ZAPP, Urban Pulse, Phenomenon, King’s Krew, Bomb Squad, Portland’s Push Jones, the Unseen Hip-Hop Company and Seattle’s premier hip hop company, Phyzikal Graffi-T.
“Down 4 It” is hosted by the Eugene-based Dance Northwest, a performance group bringing artistic dance to the community. “Dance is more than entertainment; for the performers, it is a means of expression that should be available to those who covet it,” said Dance Northwest Director Anita Sanford in the release.
The show starts Saturday at 8 p.m. at Lane Community College Performance Hall. Tickets are $10.
