Incident: Disorderly subject Location: East 14th Avenue and Alder Street When: Friday, Jan. 30 Time: 10:16 p.m. What: A caller reported 20 people pulling out street signs across the street from the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. The caller told dispatchers she suspected the group came from a party at the fraternity.
Incident: In possession of narcotics Location: 980 E. 16th Ave. When: Saturday, Jan. 31st Time: 4:05 a.m. What: On the University Street side of Pioneer Memorial Cemetery, a subject was observed pounding monuments and tombstones. Described as a white male in his 40s with gray hair, he appeared to be carrying a hatchet.
Incident: Weapon offense Location: 2166 W. 6th Ave., Arandas Begonias Restaurant When: Sunday, Feb. 1 Time: 2:03 a.m. What: A shooting at Arandas Begonias Restaurant led to the arrest of Elver Garcia Sanchez, age 23, according to a Eugene Police Department news release. Police cited Sanchez for menacing, unlawful use of a weapon, reckless endangering, unlawful possession of a firearm and DUI. Sanchez incited an altercation with a man inside the restaurant, according to the release, and fired at least three shots in the direction of the man as he left the restaurant. Witnesses told police the shots were fired more toward the ceiling than toward the man. No injuries were reported. Sanchez was later stopped on Prairie Road and Irving and is being lodged at the Lane County Jail.
