The lawns around the EMU have been getting more water this fall than usual, thanks to a few overlooked sprinklers.
Vincent Babkirk, the landscape maintenance coordinator for facilities services, said sprinklers around campus are usually turned off around Oct. 1. However, a few rogue sprinklers have continued to go off every night around the EMU all the way into November.
Facilities services initially had a hard time tracking down the culprits.
“We went and checked all of our controllers to make sure they were off,” said Roger Kerrigan, exterior maintenance team supervisor.
However, it turns out the controls for the sprinklers around the EMU are located inside the building, unlike the sprinklers for the rest of campus.
“We will definitely get it taken care of today,” Babkirk said Wednesday in a phone interview.
