The Oregon women’s soccer team wrapped up its season with its first conference win — and another loss — in Arizona this weekend.
The Ducks picked up their first conference win of the season Friday night with a 5-1 victory over the University of Arizona. Oregon was led by junior forward Jen Stoltenberg and freshman midfielder Scout Libke, who each recorded two goals and an assist in the match.
Stoltenberg struck first for Oregon in the 20th minute on an assist from junior Bree Rowe, and then found the back of the net again for her 10th goal of the season just eight minutes later to give the Ducks an early 2-0 lead. Macke Mutz recorded the Wildcats’ lone goal during the 69th minute as they dropped to 4-14-1 on the year.
The Ducks were unable to convert on the sweep Sunday afternoon, though, as they fell 2-1 to the Arizona State Sun Devils. Freshman forward Julie Armstrong got the Ducks on the board first, off of a Stoltenberg assist, to give Oregon an early 1-0 lead going into halftime, but they were held scoreless the rest of the way.
ASU managed to respond with two goals in the second half to steal the victory, with the game-winning penalty kick goal registered by Alexandra Elston during the 76th minute.
Oregon finished the season with a 9-10-1 record overall and a 1-8-0 record in conference play.
