Electro-pop group Passion Pit canceled its free show, scheduled for tonight at the EMU Ballroom at 9 p.m.
Lead singer Michael Angelakos is said to be seriously sick with a cold, leaving his voice “completely out of commission,” according to the University Cultural Forum’s Web site.
Rescheduling of the event is being planned.
“As frustrated as the band and I are with the situation, it is obviously out of our hands,” Angelakos said in the statement. “It is, however, imperative that we explain the situation to you all and thank you for your support and understanding of this matter. We appreciate you immensely and we are very sorry to let you down.”
The four other members of the group will be playing tonight at a house party in Eugene.
