The Oregon women’s soccer team (8-4-1, 0-2-0 Pac-10) will travel to Corvallis this afternoon to take on the Oregon State Beavers (8-4-1, 0-2-0 Pac-10) for its third Pacific-10 Conference match this season.
The Ducks are coming off of two tough losses to No. 21 California and the top-ranked
Stanford Cardinal last weekend at Pape Field. Cal defeated Oregon 2-1 on Friday, which was followed by a lopsided 5-1 victory for Stanford on Sunday.
The Beavers faced a similar fate in their opening weekend of conference play as they fell 3-0 to Stanford last Friday and 2-0 to Cal on Sunday. OSU is 1-3-1 over its last five contests and both teams are in need of their first conference win.
Sophomore Ashley Seal and redshirt freshman Chelsea Buckland have led the way for the Beavers offensively this season, as they’ve each found the back of the net four times. Oregon will try to get junior forward Jen Stoltenberg more involved in the offense after a slow
opening weekend.
For the Ducks, Stoltenberg leads the team with 16 points scored so far this season and freshman Julie Armstrong is second with 10 points. The Ducks started the season 7-1-1, but they have dropped off recently, losing three of their last four games.
Historically, Oregon leads the all-time series against the Beavers at 6-4-3, with the last two matches resulting in draws — 0-0 last season and 2-2 in 2007.
Match time is set for 7:30 p.m. at Paul Lorenz Field.
