Eugene police have arrested two suspects in connection to three recent kidnapping and ATM robbery incidents.
At about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Eugene Police Department Violent Crimes detectives went to a West Eugene residence, where they arrested Dustin Ray Thorn, 24, and Shane Edward Staggs, 23, both of Eugene, according to an EPD press release.
EPD reports Thorn immediately complied with police, while Staggs barricaded himself inside the residence, but complied with police after about 90 minutes.
Both men were taken into custody on three counts of kidnapping in the first degree and robbery in the second degree. The men will be held at Lane County Jail.
The men were arrested in connection to three carjacking-robbery incidents that occurred in the past week, in which women were abducted and forced to visit multiple ATM locations to withdraw cash. Detective Dan Braziel of the EPD violent crimes unit said at a press conference Monday that police believe the same two suspects were involved in all three incidents.
