Due to complications regarding their transition of management, Taylor’s Bar and Grill will be closed Wednesday night, cancelling the popular weekly $1 beers special.
New general manager Duane Davis says that $1 beers will be moved to later this week. Taylor’s has been closed since Tuesday due to issues transferring their liquor license to the new owners, but should reopen on Thursday.
According to Taylor’s Twitter account, free T-shirts will be handed out Wednesday night from 9 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. as an apologetic gesture for the cancellation of “Dollars.”
Shortly after the announcement that tonight’s $1 beers was canceled, Webfoot Bar, located across the street, tweeted that they would be offering $1 beers instead.

Taylor’s will fall under new ownership on Tuesday, May 23. The new owners promise to uphold old traditions as well as create an improved environment for University of Oregon students.
Davis is adamant about creating a better experience based on feedback from patrons – particularly students.
“This is your place,” explained Davis. “If you guys want to listen to a certain kind of music, if you guys want to have a certain kind of drink special, we really want to open up those channels to everybody, and get that feedback.”
Changes that Davis plans include the resurgence of DJ Connah J, regular guest DJ’s and new drink specials and menu items.
“This is a student’s bar, it always has been” said Davis. “This is everybody’s place to kind of hang out and feel at home.”
Davis will be on Taylor’s patio Wednesday night handing out T-shirts and answering questions and concerns regarding the new management.
