The AP released their preseason poll for men’s basketball on Wednesday, and the Ducks were not in the top 25.
Oregon did receive two votes, not nearly enough for the top-25. Oregon was picked to finish fourth in the Pac-12 at media day in October. The Ducks return only one of their starters from a team that went to the Final Four last season.
The Pac-12 had three teams ranked in the top-25, No. 3 Arizona, No. 10 USC and No. 21 UCLA.
Of Oregon’s non-conference opponents, only two potential opponents were ranked in the polls, No. 2 Michigan State No. 9 North Carolina. Right now, Oregon isn’t scheduled to play those teams, but depending on the results from the PK80 Tournament, the Ducks could have to face one or both throughout the duration of the event.
Oregon completed the exhibition portion of its schedule with a 124-72 win over Northwest Christian University on Monday. The team has its regular season opener against Coppin State on Friday at 9 p.m. at Matthew Knight Arena.
