The Shivas began as three 15-year-olds playing music in their parents’ garages in Vancouver, Washington. Now, Jared Molyneux as lead guitarist, Kristen Leonard on drums and Eric Shanafelt on bass, are based in Portland. The three of them have been playing together for ten years and have toured worldwide, spending four to six months on the road each year. The three of them let the Emerald into one of their practice spaces and told us a little about what it’s like to be in the group.
