The No. 33 women’s golf team got off to a bit of a slow start at the Bruin Wave Invitational on Monday, finishing tied for ninth place with a score of 295 (seven-over par).
Freshman Cheyenne Hickle led the Ducks with a first round score of 70 (2-under par), tying for seventh place overall. Sophomore Ashley Edwards and junior Kendra Little each shot a 74 (2-over par), good for a 31st place tie. Senior Kate Hildahl followed with a 77 (5-over par), while senior Felicia Eastick tied for 74th place with an 81 (9-over par).
The tournament, which takes place in Santa Clarita, Calif., plays host to nine Pacific-10 Conference teams. No. 1 UCLA and No. 2 Arizona State headline the field, along with No. 6 USC, No. 8 Arizona, and No. 13 Stanford.
The Wildcats currently lead the tournament with a 283 (5-under par), while UCLA and USC are deadlocked in second place with a score of 286 (two-under par). Arizona State has struggled so far, shooting a 294 (6-over par) in the first round and tying for seventh place.
