Pac-10 after beating UCLA 72-58 on Feb. 6. The Bears overcame back-to-back losses and an early 22-8 Bruin lead, getting 20 points each from Theo Robertson and Patrick Christopher. Cal had been one of the few consistent teams in men’s conference play before dropping two road contests to Arizona and USC. The team will again be tested this week when it hosts the Washington schools as Pac-10 play starts to dwindle down.
Oregon

The opposite side hitter spent last season at Loyola Marymount, where she was honored as the West Coast Conference Freshman of the Year and an All-WCC First Team selection. Bergsma will face the daunting task of helping replace a pair of Oregon All-Americans with the departure of senior outside hitter Sonja Newcombe and senior middle blocker Neticia Enesi.

The 6-foot-6-inch Pondexter averaged 23.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in the Huskies wins over Arizona and Arizona State this past weekend. Averaging 20.6 points per game on the year, he joins Oregon State’s Gary Payton (1988-89), Arizona’s Chris Mills (1992-93), UCLA’s Ed O’Bannon (1994-95) and Arizona State’s Eddie House (1999-2000) as the only four-time winners in a season.
