The ASUO’s efforts to raise money for victims of the earthquake in Haiti were put on hold after a swastika was found spray-painted on the floor of an EMU office Feb. 1. Their efforts will, however, begin again today.
A fundraiser involving a mural and balloon art had been planned for Feb. 3. ASUO Events
Coordinator Amelie Rousseau said she canceled the event to organize solidarity
demonstrations for the campus Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer Alliance, whose office was spray-painted.
“I was stringing together a massive balloon rope,” Rousseau said. “I was a little distracted.”
But Rousseau said the event will go on today on the corner of East 13th Avenue and University Street. Students will be allowed to participate in activities only if they send donations to one of a list of charities via text message.
