Who: Softball
What: Cathedral City Classic
When: Today through Sunday
Where: Palm Springs, Calif.
The Ducks are more than halfway done with their season-opening 22-game road stint and will be looking to improve on their 8-4 record overall with their first trip of the year down to Southern California. They will take on Utah and Texas A&M this afternoon, Hawaii and Long Island tomorrow, and close out the tourney with a matchup against Pacific on Saturday morning. Oregon has hit .316 as a team through the first 12 games with freshman outfielder Samantha Pappas leading the way. She is one of two Ducks hitting above .500 and has recorded six home runs and driven in 15 RBIs in her first 39 collegiate plate appearances. Junior lefty Brittany Rumfelt (3-1) and freshman Jessica Moore (3-0) have carried the majority of the pitching load, while sophomore ace Sam Skillingstad (1-3) has struggled to find her groove early on.
