Mason Foster (40)
A senior linebacker from Seaside, Calif., Mason Foster has grown into one of the premier defensive weapons in the Pac-10 and the nation. The 6’2″ 242-pounder leads the Pac-10 with 100 tackles (12.5 per game) through eight games, 30 stops ahead of second-place teammate Nate Williams. On the year, Foster also has six tackles for loss, a team-high three sacks, and two forced fumbles. When Oregon went to Seattle last October, Mason recorded eight tackles, more than any Oregon player, and one sack.
Casey Matthews (55)
Not to be outdone by his opposition, Oregon senior Casey Matthews will be a key force in slowing Washington running back Chris Polk. Matthews recorded a season-high 10 tackles at USC last Saturday. He has tallied just a fraction of Foster’s takedowns with 45, but is second for the Ducks in that category. The senior from Agoura Hills, Calif., also has 5.5 tackles for loss, three interceptions and a team-high three fumble recoveries.
