Every Friday night Jose Cruz, owner of Salseros Dance Company, puts on a Salsa night in the Veterans Memorial Building ballroom in downtown Eugene. The evening’s festivities start at 9:15 with a 45-minute beginners salsa dancing lesson taught by Cruz. The rest of the night is devoted to freestyle salsa dancing. Women in strappy heals and tight dresses are twirled and turned by men in collared shirts. Performances by members of visiting salsa dance companies take place, and a bar set up in the ballroom quenches the dancers’ thirst. The atmosphere is laid back and beginners are welcome to dance with the experienced regulars. Cruz’s upcoming salsa night will take place Friday, November 26th, at the Veterans Memorial Building (1626 Willamette St.) and will showcase live music by Cuban Son band “Son Melao”. Cover charge is $10 which includes the lesson
