When fall arrives, the only thing more ubiquitous in Eugene than football fans are pumpkins. Their telltale triangle eye cut-outs and Cheshire-like grins are displayed proudly on front porches and business windows everywhere you look. If you are searching for a pumpkin of your own or just a fun fall adventure, check out one of these pumpkin patches located in Lane County:
Lone Pine Farms: Located in Junction City, this pumpkin patch is the whole package. They have a wide array of entertainment, including haunted and non-haunted corn mazes, a petting zoo, horse-drawn hayrides through the pumpkin patch, a tractor-drawn hayride, a cow train ride and pumpkin patch tours. The corn maze is a big hit with visitors of all ages. The non-haunted maze runs daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the haunted maze runs every Friday through Sunday, 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., until October 31. They also sell fresh produce along with their pumpkins. Check out their website www.lonepinefarms.com for prices.

They offer tours of the pumpkin patch Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Other highlights include a lesson about sailing on the Mayflower on their life-size “Hayflower,” a gift shop, locally grown produce and flowers for purchase, and local vendors selling their food throughout the month. On Friday and Saturday nights they have Harry Potter “Dark Forest Nights” from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., until the end of October. Also, each weekend they feature live music, face painting (not just for kids) and a special food venue. For the hungry, competitive visitors, a pie eating contest begins Saturday at 2 p.m. Admission to the farm is $5 per person and $20 per family. They are located on 36777 Wheeler Road, Pleasant Hill, Ore., off of I-5 south.
