As a salaried employee, hours will vary, but Web designers must be able to work an average of 20 hours per week. Web designers will work with the Web editor as well as the news, sports, photo and multimedia desks to create Web-specific content.
Examples of assignments a Web designer might receive include: interactive maps, infographics, multimedia packages, story-specific website layout and plotting. Web designers are responsible for at least three assignments per week.
Preferred applicants will have experience with graphic design, HTML/CSS, JavaScript/jQuery, Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, and/or Web-based content management systems.
