A man arrested earlier this month has been charged in connection with a string of commercial burglaries in the Eugene and Springfield area between Dec. 3 and early January.
Eugene police arrested Joshua Sharp, 30, on charges of 12 counts of Burglary II, police said in a press release late Wednesday.
Sharp was arrested Jan. 4 during a traffic stop on I-5. At the time, Sharp provided the officer with a Washington driver’s license that turned out to be suspended.
Sharp’s passenger, later identified as Shane Carlson, 26, was also arrested at the time. Carlson was arrested at the scene for littering. Officers found that both Sharp and Carlson were in possession of several Washington driver’s licenses of different names.
Officers found additional evidence at the scene that resulted in the men being held on charges of identity theft, possession of burglary tools and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
Officers were able to positively identify the men the next day and found that they were wanted on fugitive warrants out of Washington.
The Seattle Police Department had been seeking Carlson in a case involving about 35 medical and dental office burglaries in and around Seattle. Carlson has not been charged with the Eugene robberies, although the investigation into his possible involvement is continuing. Local charges have only been pressed on Sharp as of this time.
Businesses Sharp allegedly robbed in Eugene include City Nail and Spa, Fisherman Market, Plaza Latina, B2 Wine Bar, Midtown Marketplace, Little Caesars, Color of Beauty, Muchas Gracias, Shamrock Flowers and Gifts and the Luxe Salon.
