Student-at-large seat on the Oregon Daily Emerald Board of Directors
Applications are open until Friday, Oct 8, 2010, for a student-at-large seat on the Oregon Daily Emerald Board of Directors. This commitment begins with the board’s annual meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2010, and ends September 2012. The board meets at 5:30 p.m on the second Wednesday of the month year-round.
To apply, you must be currently enrolled as a regular undergraduate or graduate student and plan to re-enroll for the 2011-12 school year. You also must be able to attend monthly board meetings and serve on at least one board committee.
The ODE board’s Nominating Committee will review applications, conduct interviews, and select and notify the finalist by Oct. 11.
This is an excellent experience opportunity that provides a real-life exposure to the sort of board processes and responsibilities that you may encounter in a professional lifetime. It’s also a networking opportunity, because you will serve with various community and campus leaders who sit on the Emerald’s board.
The ODE is a private nonprofit corporation. Directors advise, govern, oversee finances, policy and direction, and assist with the leadership and general promotion of the Oregon Daily Emerald Publishing Co. Inc. as a sustainable independent student news organization.
Please note: The board and its directors do not have authority over editorial content. The Editor in Chief is the sole decision maker on all issues of editorial content for the Oregon Daily Emerald and its related online and mobile sites.
