How/Why do you want to change the world?
I hope to build community resilience and sustainability through transportation and city planning. I am pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Public Policy and Management (PPPM) at the University of Oregon to gain the skills and knowledge needed to effectively implement projects, programs and policies that will support these outcomes. I am especially passionate about active transportation and creating opportunities for connection with the people and places in our cities and towns.
What are you proud to have been involved with at University of Oregon?
I am proud to have been the president of the PPPM Student Community Organization (SCO), an ASUO recognized student group focused on building community and creating opportunities for professional development and networking for students. As president of SCO, I facilitated communication between students, faculty, and staff and maintained partnerships across campus to host the 2020 PPPM Professional Development Fair. The Professional Development Fair was a career fair-type event featuring representatives from over 30 local organizations and over 85 students attended. Being part of SCO helped me build meaningful relationships with peers and professionals across campus while allowing me to support my peers in personal and professional development.
Who is your biggest role model and why?
My biggest role model is my mom, because she is incredibly resilient and always inspires me to find beauty and joy in the most unexpected places. She doesn’t hesitate to see the best in people or find hope in hard times and is always there for those she loves regardless of the time or need.
What are your goals after college?
My current dream job would be working as a planner in local government. My main goal is to find work that feels meaningful and engaging while supporting something I believe in. I want to be surrounded by people who inspire and motivate me and work in an organization that prioritizes promoting the public good.
Which fictional character is most like yourself?
I aspire to be half as resilient and inspirational as Leslie Knope!
