Oregon women’s basketball completed the sweep of the Washington schools with a 90-79 win against the Washington State Cougars on Sunday.
Ruthy Hebard followed up her 30 points and 14 rebounds performance against Washington with perfect 12-of-12 shooting on Sunday. She finished with 29 points and nine rebounds.
Hebard and Sabrina Ionescu, who finished with 17 points, nine assists and five rebounds, became the second and third sophomores in UO history to reach 1,000 career points.
Lexi Bando saw her first game action since Jan. 14 when she checked in to the game with 1:27 left in the first quarter. Sixteen seconds later, she made her presence felt with a corner three-pointer. She finished the game with nine points, all from beyond the 3-point line in 12 minutes of action. Despite Bando’s return, head coach Kelly Graves went with the same starting lineup he’s used since her injury.
At one point in the second quarter Oregon was shooting 94 percent (17-of-18) that contributed to the Ducks taking a 48-34 halftime lead. The Ducks finished with 61.5 percent shooting in the game.
Oregon opened up a 23-point lead with 6:46 remaining in the third quarter before Washington State slowly started trimming the lead, cutting it back to single digits on a three pointer by Washington State’s Borislava Hristova with just over a minute remaining in the third quarter. However, the Cougars couldn’t get any closer than nine throughout the fourth quarter.
Satou Sabally scored seven straight points to push the Oregon lead to 15 points and reach with 3:59 left in the game, despite being held to just one field goal the rest of the game. Sabally finished the game with 17 points and four rebounds.
Next for the Ducks is the final two home games of the season against USC on Feb. 16 at 6 p.m. and against fellow first-place UCLA on Feb. 19 at 7 p.m.
