The Oregon Ducks softball team have begun to fill the recent holes in their roster for the upcoming season.
Announced on Friday, sophomore pitcher Jordan Dail has joined the Ducks after transferring from Virginia Tech. Dail, a left hander, will join Oregon’s pitching staff for the upcoming 2019 season.
“We are thrilled to welcome Jordan to our program,” head coach Melyssa Lombardi said. “Jordan is a competitor who has a lot of good movement on her ball, and she does a great job of changing speeds. She gives us a totally different look from Megan Kleist and Maggie Balint, and she will compliment them very well. Jordan has a great presence in the circle and I know our athletes will love to take the field with her. I can’t wait to get her to Eugene.”
Dail had a strong freshman season at Virginia Tech, finishing fifth in the ACC with a .209 opponent batting average and ranked 12th in the conference with 116 strikeouts. She posted a 3.07 ERA in her 98.0 innings played for the Hokies.
The Forest, Virginia native, threw eight complete games on top of 14 starts, while beginning her career with 20.1 innings without allowing an earned run.
At Brookville High School, in Lynchburg, Virginia, Dail recorded 1,079 strikeouts. Her senior year was highlighted with 309 strikeouts and a 0.12 ERA.
Dail will be Oregon’s only left-handed pitcher, as Oregon’s current pitching staff includes both right-handed pitchers in senior Megan Kleist, who last season’s Pac-12 pitcher of the year, and junior Maggie Balint.
Oregon will start its season on February 8 in Tempe, Arizona at the Kajikawa Classic.
