Oregon senior forward Joevan Catron was named to the second team All-Pac-10 Conference squad, becoming the 41st player in school history to receive all-conference recognition, the league announced Monday.
Catron has been a force for the young Ducks this season, averaging career-highs with 15.3 points and 27.2 minutes per game. He leads Oregon in scoring, rebounding (6.3 rebounds per game), field goal percentage (49.5 percent) and field goals made and attempted (143 for 289).
The Phoenix, Ill., native became the first Oregon player to receive all-conference accolades since Maarty Leunen was named to the second team after the 2007-08 season. Joining Catron on the second team was DeAngelo Casto (Washington State), Jared Cunningham (Oregon State), Harper Kamp (California) and Trent Lockett (Arizona State).
For the season, Catron led the Ducks in rebounding 15 times, while reaching double figures offensively in 21 of the 28 games he played this year. Of his nine career 20-point games, eight have come this season.
In his final regular season game at No. 18 Arizona on Saturday, Catron scored a career-best 28 points to surpass the 1,000-point mark for his career. The fifth-year senior now has 1,007 points in 124 career games.
Catron and the rest of the Ducks will travel to Los Angeles for their opening round matchup of the Pac-10 tournament with Arizona State on Wednesday night at the Staples Center.
