Oregon sophomore middle-distance runner Anne Kesselring has been named Pacific-10 Conference Women’s Track Athlete of the Week for her performance in the 800 meters at the Oregon relays on Saturday.
Kesselring finished second to Oregon Track Club’s Geena Gall, crossing the finish line in 2:02.44. (Gall’s winning time was 2:02.04.) The Nurnberg, Germany, native’s performance was the fastest time by a collegian this season and the fifth-fastest in school history, as well as a personal best by two seconds.
Arizona State sprinter Ryan Milus, Southern Cal hammer thrower Trey Henderson and Arizona shot putter Julie Labonte won the awards for Men’s Track, Men’s Field and Women’s Field, respectively.
Additionally, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released its rankings Tuesday, with the Duck women holding steady at No. 3. Oregon is ranked No. 20 on the men’s side, falling from No. 13 last week.
LSU and Texas A&M are ahead of the Ducks in the women’s poll.
Texas A&M, LSU and Florida State comprise the top three teams in the men’s poll.
