What: Conference baseball series
Where: Bailey-Brayton Field, Pullman, Wash.
When: 5:30 p.m. today; 2 p.m. Saturday; noon Sunday
Summary:
Oregon (28-24-1, 7-14 Pac-10) needs a sweep over Washington State (22-25, 6-15 Pac-10) to keep its playoff hopes alive. It certainly won’t be easy on the road in Pullman, but the Ducks have turned it on of late by winning their last three games against Stanford and Gonzaga. The Cougars, meanwhile, are coming off a two-game series split against Portland and will look to make a statement in what is their final home series of the year. In the last meeting between the two teams — which took place April 30 through May 2 of 2010 — Oregon took two of the three games in Eugene. Both junior Tyler Anderson and sophomore Christian Jones are expected to start the first two games for Oregon, while Sunday’s pitching slot has yet to be determined.@@http://www.wsucougars.com/sports/m-basebl/sched/wast-m-basebl-sched.html@@
Key stat: Oregon shut Gonzaga out in both games earlier this week, marking the first time the Ducks have blanked an opponent twice in a row since May 5, 1976.
