It was another record-breaking weekend for the Oregon men’s and women’s track and field teams. Elijah Greer and Jordan Hasay ran nation-leading times in their respective events at the Husky Classic in Seattle on Saturday.
Greer won the 800 meters with a personal-best 1:47.02, while Hasay ran the top time for a collegian in the women’s mile in 4:34.75.
Both Greer and Hasay sit second all-time in school history after their performances at the Dempsey Indoor Facility.
Senior Matthew Centrowitz further etched his name into the Oregon record books, running a five-second personal-best in the 3,000 meters, finishing in 7:50.59. The time was the second best in school history.
Football running back LaMichael James made his season debut in the 60-meter dash alongside teammates Kenjon Barner and Dior Mathis. James tied for second in the event with a time of 6.88 seconds.
On Friday, senior Alex Kosinski finished the 5,000 meters in 15:44.60. That mark was good enough to qualify her for a berth in the NCAA Championships. The performance broke Nicole Blood’s 2010 school record by more than six seconds.
Oregon also sent a small contingent to the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., where Amber Purvis took back her school record in the 60-meter dash. Purvis crossed the line in second place with a time of 7.25 seconds, meeting the NCAA automatic qualifier.
