Tumblr becomes a call service
Tumblr recently took the initiative against the proposed Stop Online Piracy Act@@http://www.washingtonpost.com/business/sopa-stop-online-piracy-act-debate-why-are-google-and-facebook-against-it/2011/11/17/gIQAvLubVN_story.html@@ to educate their users about the censorship bill and urge them to contact their representatives about it. The bill would allow Internet providers to cut off access to websites that could partake in copyright infringement. Tumblr itself connected their users to Congress, generating 87,834 calls @@checked@@and a total of 1,293 talking-hours to representatives to oppose the bill. Other sites, like Firefox and YouTube, have attempted to educate users about the bill, but Tumblr really took the cake.

The Great Pizza Harvest
Congress declares the amount of tomato paste on a slice of pizza a “vegetable” in order to bypass bills aiming to regulate the sodium levels and other nutritional qualities of public school lunches. Many blame frozen food company lobbyists from ConAgra and Schwan’s for this insane new rule — both of which used money and politics to create the pizza tree@@the pizza tree?!@@ as well as to facilitate childhood obesity. No wonder the congressional approval rating is only 9 percent.@@yikes!@@
A Trojan victory
Thumbs down to the Ducks’ loss to the Trojans on Saturday — a disappointing end to a thrilling game. Down 38-14, the Ducks were then able to get a staggering 21-point jump start. Even though Alejandro Maldonado@@http://directory.uoregon.edu/telecom/directory.jsp?p=findpeople%2Ffind_results&m=student&d=person&b=name&s=Alejandro+Maldonado@@ missed the 37-yard goal, the fans left only slightly miffed.
