During Monday’s meeting in which the State Board of Higher Education decided to force University President Richard Lariviere out of office by Dec. 28, University Senate President Robert Kyr announced that the University Senate will conduct an emergency meeting with OUS Chancellor George Pernsteiner in McArthur Court on Wednesday at 3 p.m. to answer questions from the community and discuss presidential candidates.
“This meeting on Wednesday is very important,” Kyr said. “It is crucial that we gather on Wednesday and that we begin the healing process and a process for building trust.”
State Board of Higher Education President Matthew Donegan@@http://www.oregonlive.com/education/index.ssf/2011/11/state_board_of_higher_educatio_1.html@@ said he wouldn’t be able to attend the meeting due to prior engagements. Kyr said Gov. John Kitzhaber is very interested in the meeting, but it is unclear whether he will attend.
